When talking about the Senior Class History, the Windmill said: "At the beginning of the term there were thirty-seven in the class. Johnny Kotz, George Murray, Beatrice Mulquin, and a great many others did not know those that had come up from the eighth grade, but as the first six weeks rolled away they all became acquainted."

This is the only photo we have of George with his maternal grandmother, Catherine McCartney McMahon, and his great-aunt Margaret McCartney.
George's class picture when he graduated from Monroeville High School in 1928.
This picture is an absolute treasure! Not only do we have George standing front and center, we have brothers Al and Lou cutting up in the back ground. But to make it even more special, George had actually written on the back of the picture: "December 28, 1924 3 p.m. G. L. M. M.H.S. freshie. ME, Alfred and Louis." George had gone to live with his uncle George McMahon in Monroeville and went to Monroeville High School, which is undoubtedly what the reference to M.H.S. means. He was probably a freshman in high school and had come home for the Christmas holiday when this picture was taken.
