Just heading into West Virginia when ..... uh oh ......
About an hour from home, Hilde started chugging and losing power. The third time it happened we had just gotten into West Virginia when we stopped and saw this. Seems she was overheating and we didn't know why. We made the decision to drive three hours back home, get our new car and start out again. We stopped about a half an hour into our northbound drive, and she was fine. We stopped again to get gas and checked the radiator. The thermostat was fine, the water pump was working, so we added some water to the radiator and, when it came time to get back on the freeway, Larry hesitated, took the southbound ramp and said we're going for it! Guess we wanted an adventure, huh? Larry's theory is that Hilde had some air in her cooling system and once she burped and got it out, she was fine. As I'm writing this, we're in lovely St. Augustine, Florida -- and we never had any more problems. I am knocking on wood, because we still have the return journey to make! (June 12, 2012)
