irishmurr > We think George was about 10 months old when this picture was taken.(circa May 1911)

When we found the photo, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that it was Larry's Dad -- and the family confirmed it for us. It's great to have such a nice picture of George when he was so young.
irishmurr > This is the only photo we have of George with his maternal grandmother, Catherine McCartney McMahon, and his great-aunt Margaret McCartney.
irishmurr > George with five of his siblings: standing in back row (left to right) are Robert, Lawrence, George and Joe. In the front row are Paul and Mary Catherine.
irishmurr > George with his mother, Catherine McMahon Murray, and sister Mary Catherine.
irishmurr > George with his aunt, Elnora Murray. George seemed to find something funny when this picture was taken. Maybe Aunt Nora?
irishmurr > George as a young child. We especially love this picture because of the outfit he was wearing!
irishmurr > One of George's class pictures. He's standing in the third row, second child from left. We think this was either kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade, because we also have his 3rd grade class picture and the children look older in it.
irishmurr > George's 3rd grade class picture, taken in 1919. His teacher was Miss Elms. George is standing in the front row, almost in the center, with the white suit on.
irishmurr > George (left) with his brothers Larry and Bob
irishmurr > This isn't a very good picture, but it's the only one we have of George with his baby sister Ann Marie when they were children.
irishmurr > This picture is an absolute treasure! Not only do we have George standing front and center, we have brothers Al and Lou cutting up in the back ground. But to make it even more special, George had actually written on the back of the picture: "December 28, 1924 3 p.m. G. L. M. M.H.S. freshie. ME, Alfred and Louis." George had gone to live with his uncle George McMahon in Monroeville and went to Monroeville High School, which is undoubtedly what the reference to M.H.S. means. He was probably a freshman in high school and had come home for the Christmas holiday when this picture was taken.
irishmurr > One of George's later school pictures.
irishmurr > George's class picture when he graduated from Monroeville High School in 1928.
irishmurr > This is George's picture as published in The Windmill in 1928, his senior year.

When talking about the Senior Class History, the Windmill said: "At the beginning of the term there were thirty-seven in the class. Johnny Kotz, George Murray, Beatrice Mulquin, and a great many others did not know those that had come up from the eighth grade, but as the first six weeks rolled away they all became acquainted."
irishmurr > George attended General Motors Institute of Technology in Flint, Michigan and was pictured in The Rotor, the "yearbook" of the Buick Coops, Class of 1930.
